I. Câncio Advogados is responsible for the handling of the Personal Data that you make available to us, and for that purpose and in accordance with article 37 of the “GDPR”, an EPD/DPO has been appointed.
Personal Data means any data relating to a natural person identified or identifiable directly or indirectly through one element of such data, such as, for example, a name, identification number, location data, email address, or other aspects of physical, physiological, genetic, mental, economic, cultural or social identity.
What is the personal data we collect and process
I. Câncio Advogados collects and processes personal data such as your name, email, telephone number, and such data are collected and processed in order to answer your questions, requests, or to provide you with information. For job applications we will also collect, if sent by you, your Curriculum Vitae. The personal data you provide us will be processed for the purposes indicated at the time of collection.
General rules for collection and processing
I. Câncio Advogados will treat your Personal Data with absolute confidentiality, in a lawful, transparent and respectful manner respecting principles of good faith. It will ensure that the Personal Data collected is appropriate, relevant and not excessive in relation to the purposes for which it is collected and handled.
The Personal Data collected is processed manually and/or by the IT system, being stored in specific databases, created and managed for that purpose in strict compliance with legislation concerning personal data protection.
I. Câncio Advogados will not disclose your Personal Data to third parties, except in compliance with applicable legal obligations, or whenever this is necessary for the provision of services for which it has been contracted and based on which the data has been provided.
If I. Câncio Advogados hires employees or external service providers, such as its subcontractors, they will have to comply with these data protection rules, signing written agreements for this purpose, which ensure that, in this matter, they comply exclusively with the instructions of I Câncio Advogados, and use the appropriate technical and organizational rules to comply with our privacy policies.
Legitimacy and reason for the collection of personal data
I. Câncio Advogados collects Personal Data only for specific, explicit and legitimate purposes which is not, under any circumstances, handled in a manner inconsistent with these purposes.

Personal data retention period
Personal Data is stored and maintained by I. Câncio Advogados, for the minimum period necessary for the purposes that led to its collection and subsequent handling. Where there is no specific time limit laid down by law, the data shall be stored and kept for five years, except for that which is related to the provision of legal services, which shall be kept for a period of 20 years, from the expiry of that period, in accordance with the legitimate interest pursued by I. Câncio Advogados. Once the maximum period of maintenance has been reached, the personal data will be destroyed in a safe manner.
Rights of the data subject
At any time, the data subject may:

I. Câncio Advogados is committed to ensuring the security and confidentiality of Personal Data collected and processed by it, by adopting technical and organizational security measures in order to protect personal data against dissemination, loss, misuse, alteration, handling or unauthorized access, as well as against any other form of unlawful handling, using means such as protection of information technology systems through a firewall, in order to minimize the risk of unauthorized access, as well as its Backup Policy.
I. Câncio Advogados also requires its partners to adopt technical and organizational security measures equivalent to those it practises and adopts, and to ensure limited access to Personal Data, based on a “need-to-know” criterion within the scope of the purposes communicated.
